FAU Women's Basketball Releases 2008-09 Schedule

July 30, 2008

2008-09 Schedule

BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University's women's basketball team has released its 2008-09 schedule. Head Coach Chancellor Dugan's squad will face six teams that participated in postseason tournaments, including four that participated in the NCAA Tournament.

"We are very excited about the caliber of teams on our schedule and I know that it will prepare us for the conference season. The opportunity to go to Baylor and the Bahamas along with having elite teams in our tournament will be a great showcase for both our players and fans," said Dugan.

The Owls kick off the season on November 14 in Waco, Texas against the Baylor Bears. FAU will host Georgia Southern on Monday, November 17 in its home opener. The highlight of the home schedule will be the FAU Thanksgiving Classic, which will take place Saturday, November 29 and Sunday, November 30. Tennessee Tech, Georgia Tech and the University of Texas will round out the field.

FAU will travel to the Bahamas Wednesday, December 17 through Sunday, December 21 to take on Mercer and East Carolina as part of the Sunsplash Shootout. The Owls will ring in the New Year by hosting the University of South Alabama in their Sun Belt Conference home opener on Thursday, January 1 as part of a doubleheader with the FAU men's basketball team. Defending Sun Belt Conference Champions Western Kentucky will come to Boca Raton on Sunday, January 11, and FAU will host its last home game of the season on Saturday, February 21 against Middle Tennessee University.

The Owls return seven players from its 2007-08 team, including all five starters. They will be bolstered by one of the best recruiting classes in the conference. Season ticket information soon will be available on www.fausports.com.
