Women's Basketball Signs Two

May 1, 2002

BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University's women's basketball head coach, Chancellor Dugan, has announced Jennifer Olson and Sharia Young have signed National Letters of Intent to play basketball at FAU next season.

Olson is a 6-2, forward/center from Keifer, OK who will join the team as a junior transfer from Labette Junior College in Parsons, KS. Olson averaged nearly 10 points and seven rebounds a game this past season as a sophomore.

Young, a 5-8 guard from Lexington, KY will join the Lady Owls as a freshman next season. As a senior at Bryan Station High School, she averaged 16 points, five rebounds, six assists, and four steals per game.

"Bringing aboard Jennifer and Sharia says a lot about the direction our program is headed," said Dugan. "Jennifer's low-post presence and Sharia's athleticism at the guard spot will bolster what we already have coming back. These signings, coupled with those in the fall, are an indication of the high-caliber type of student-athlete we are able to attract."

The addition of Olson and Young brings to four the number of players signed by FAU this past year. In the fall, Dugan was able to ink Trineca McCleod (6-0, F/C, Pompano Beach, FL ) and Shontavia Williams (5-9, G, Miami, FL).
