BOCA RATON, FL --- After recording their best Atlantic Sun Conference record in school history, the Florida Atlantic University women's basketball team has drawn the second seed in the A-Sun postseason tournament. The Owls (17-10, 16-4 A-Sun) will battle the seventh seeded Jacksonville Dolphins in the opening round on Thursday.

The Owls have edged the Dolphins in both meetings this season as they held on for a 74-71 victory on Dec. 3, 2005 at FAU Arena, and nipped them 62-59 on Feb.16 at Swisher Gymnasium.

FAU had three players score in double-figures in the first match up with Shontavia Williams leading the way with 19 points. Freshman Brittney Crenshaw added 12 points and Missy Glaser chipped in 10 of her own. The Dolphins' offensive attack was led by Sheena Carpenter and Ashley Williams as they combined for 49 points.

In the second showdown of the season, Amanda Bulin stepped up with 15 points and nine rebounds for the Owls and Cristal Randolph nailed four triples to add 12 points. FAU will look to build on its 12-to-2 series advantage over the Dolphins with approximate tip-time slated for 4:15 p.m. est.

Florida Atlantic has won 11 out of its last 13 games and is one of the hottest teams entering the tournament. After starting the season 3-6 the Owls have posted a record of 14-4 since the turn of the new year. JU (10-17, 7-13 A-Sun) has been very up and down during the stretch run, going 6-6 over its final 12 regular season tilts.

The Owls 17 wins ties for the most in the Chancellor Dugan era. She has led FAU to seven straight Atlantic Sun tournament appearances, earning a runner-up performance in the 2002 tournament.
