Lady Owls Begin Final Homestand

March 3, 2004

BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University begins its final homestand of the season Thursday when it hosts Stetson University. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00pm at FAU Gymnasium. FAU enters the game 10-15 overall and 9-9 in the Atlantic Sun Conference. Stetson is 12-13 and 10-8 in the A-Sun.

FAU is currently tied for seventh in the A-Sun with Mercer. The Lady Owls have already clinched a berth in the A-Sun Tournament, March 11-13, in Dothan, AL. FAU could finish with as high as a no. 5 seed. The Lady Owls have qualified for the A-Sun Tournament every year under head coach Chancellor Dugan.

In its last outing, FAU had its four-game winning streak snapped in an 81-73 loss at Mercer on Saturday. Jackie Brown led FAU with 15 points and eight rebounds. Shontavia Williams added 11. Trineca McCleod leads FAU with 14.6ppg while Williams averages 12.4.

The Hatters are coming off a 65-50 win against Lipscomb on Saturday at home. Overall, Stetson has lost three of its past five games. The Hatters are tied for fifth-place in the A-Sun with Troy State. Kristy Brown leads Stetson with 17.0 points and 10.7 rebounds per game. She is second and first, respectively, in the conference in those categories.

This is the 30th meeting between the two teams. Stetson leads the all-time series 19-10. The Hatters defeated FAU, 76-72, back on January 5 in DeLand. At home, FAU is 6-7 but 4-0 during the Dugan era.

Tickets are available at the door. Prices are $6 for adults and $4 for seniors/children.

The game is the first of two remaining for FAU in the regular season. The Lady Owls host Jacksonville in their regular season finale on Saturday.
