Women's Basketball Wraps Up Conference Play This Week

Coach Dugan: Weekly Preview

BOCA Raton, FL - The Florida Atlantic University women's basketball team will finish regular-season conference play with a pair of games this week. The Owls will face Troy University on Wednesday, February 27 at 6:15 p.m. in Troy, Alabama. FAU plays host to Western Kentucky University in the home finale on Saturday, March 1 at 5 p.m. at the FAU Arena, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton campus.

FAU picked up its first win over Florida International University in 12 years on Thursday, February 21 with a score of 64-59. On Saturday, February 23, FAU came within three seconds of getting its second-consecutive win and the program's first against Middle Tennessee State University. However, a late three pointer by the Blue Raiders elevated them to an 89-84 overtime victory against the Owls.

Troy enters the week with an11-16 record, having snapped a six-game losing streak on Saturday against FIU. The Trojans are led by the conference's fourth-leading scorer in Amy Lewis, who averages 16.3 points per game. Wednesday's game can be heard on www.fausports.com, beginning at 6 p.m.

WKU will enter the final week of Sun Belt play leading the conference at 14-2. The Hilltoppers are led by this week's Sun Belt Player of the Week, Crystal Kelly, who averages a double-double, 23.5 points and 10.8 rebounds per game.

FAU will honor senior Adel Lizama on Saturday as the Athletics Department will pay tribute to her four years as an Owl. Saturday's game also will be available on FOX College Sports Atlantic.

On Friday, February 29, Women's Basketball Head Coach Chancellor Dugan and Men's Basketball Head Coach Rex Walters will host the Coaches' Breakfast in the Founders' room of the Tom Oxley Athletic Center at 8 a.m. Coffee and donuts will be provided for free courtesy of Dunkin' Donuts.
