Women's Basketball Faces Troy State

BOCA RATON, FL -- Florida Atlantic University embarks on its final regular season road trip as it heads to Troy, AL, to take on Troy State University. The game begins at 6:00pm EST, Thursday, at Trojan Arena and will be broadcast live on WLVJ 1040-AM. FAU enters the game 11-12 overall and 9-3 in the Atlantic Sun Conference South. TSU is 15-9 and 10-3 in the A-Sun South. The Lady Owls dropped to third-place in the division after last Saturday's one-point loss to division leader Central Florida. FAU is only a game behind UCF for the top spot. Overall, FAU remains one of the hottest teams in the A-Sun. The Lady Owls have won 11 of their past 16 games and have the third-best record in the entire conference. Tamica Pierce, who is coming off a 22-point performance against UCF, leads the team with 13.3 points per game. FAU's second-leading scorer, Crystal Boyland, is still out with a right knee injury. She is not expected to play on this week's road trip. Jennifer Olson, who missed the UCF game with an ankle injury, is listed as day-to-day. Troy State owns the second-best overall record in the A-Sun and has won nine of its past 11 games since losing at FAU, 73-68, on January 16. Chaquita Alexander leads the the tam with 17.3 points per game while Thea Herring is averaging 14.2. The all-time series belongs to FAU. The Lady Owls are 7-3 against the Lady Trojans and have won six of the past seven contests. FAU is 2-3 at Troy State, including a nine-point victory last season. FAU's road trip concludes Saturday when it takes on Mercer University in Macon, GA. The Lady Owls have four regular season games remaining before the A-Sun Tournament, March 13-15, in Orlando.
