![]() Lady Owls Begin Critical Road Trip

BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University begins a pivotal road trip Thursday night when it faces conference-leading Georgia State in Atlanta, GA. The Lady Owls take on the Lady Panthers at the GSU Sports Arena in a scheduled 6:00pm tip-off. The game can be heard live on WLVJ 1040-AM and www.fausports.com. FAU has won six of its past eight games and is 9-14 overall and 8-8 in the Atlantic Sun Conference. Georgia State is 15-8 and 12-4 in the A-Sun. FAU is tied for sixth-place in the A-Sun with Mercer and Troy State. The Lady Owls are attempting to be one of eight teams to qualify for the A-Sun Tournament, March 11-13, in Dothan, AL. In its last outing, FAU defeated Campbell, 64-61, February 21 at FAU Gymnasium. Neither team led by more than six points as Shontavia Williams led the Lady Owls with 23 points. Trineca McCleod added 16 points and seven rebounds. FAU committed a season-low 12 turnovers and forced 22. McCleod leads the team with 15.0ppg while Williams is averaging 12.7. Williams has led the team the past three games with 22.0ppg. The Lady Panthers' last game was a 79-66 loss at Belmont on February 21. GSU has lost its last two games and three of its past five after starting 10-1 in the conference. Patechia Hartman leads the A-Sun with 19.0 points per game. Monica Thomas is adding 10.7ppg while April Clyburn is scoring 10.5 per game. This is the 23rd meeting between the two teams. Georgia State leads the series 15-7 and won the last meeting, 72-67, January 10 in Boca Raton. FAU is 3-7 at the GSU Sports Arena. Florida Atlantic concludes its road trip Saturday afternoon at Mercer.
