FAU Women's Basketball Has a Pair of Home Games This Week

The Florida Atlantic University women's basketball team will play two home games this week. The Owls face neighboring rivals Florida International University on Thursday night at 7 p.m. as part of FAU's "Bury the Burrow, Part III, The Series", followed by a rematch against Middle Tennessee State Saturday at 5 p.m. The Golden Panthers of FIU comes into Thursday as one of the hottest teams in the Sun Belt. The Golden Panthers have won five games in a row, and own an 8-7 conference record. They're led by senior guard LaQuetta Ferguson, who's fourth in the Sun Belt in scoring at 16.3 points per game. Florida International won the first meeting against FAU, 53-44, on January 5th in Miami. The Owls challenged Middle Tennessee in the first meeting between the two teams. The Owls led by as many as nine in the second half before MTSU went on a late run to eventually defeat FAU 79-63. The Blue Raiders enter the week at 11-4 in the Sun Belt and are led by the nation's leading scorer in Amber Holt, who averages 26.6 points per game. Thursday's game against FIU is part of "Bury the Burrow, Part III, The Series."
