Halvorsen Receives Conference Honor

Feb. 19, 2002

Florida Atlantic University's Kristy Halvorsen has been named the Atlantic Sun Conference Player-of-the-Week. The senior led FAU to two road victories last week, helping the Lady Owls maintain second place in the A-Sun standings with four games remaining.

Halvorsen averaged 13.5 points and 11.5 rebounds in FAU's wins at Mercer and at Troy State. Against TSU, she led FAU with 14 points and 15 rebounds. It was her fifth double-double of the year. The total also moved her into second place all-time at FAU with 543 career rebounds. Halvorsen leads FAU in rebounds, blocked shots, and field goal percentage.

FAU is currently 13-11 overall and 11-5 in the A-Sun, one game behind first-place Belmont. The Lady Owls have already set a team record for conference road wins and need three victories to set the team record for overall wins since moving to Division I.

Florida Atlantic next hosts Stetson Thursday at 7:00pm.
