Lady Owls Host GWU Thursday

BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University returns home to face Gardner-Webb University February 19. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00pm at FAU Gymnasium. FAU enters the game 7-14 overall and 6-8 in the Atlantic Sun Conference. The Lady Owls have won four of their past six games. FAU is coming off an 82-69 win Monday night at Troy state. In the game, FAU came from behind and outscored the Trojans 29-10 down the stretch. Shontavia Williams had a career-high 24 points and raised her season average to 11.9ppg. Trineca McCleod leads FAU with 15.1ppg. Gardner-Webb enters the game 5-17 overall and 4-11 in the Atlantic Sun. The Bulldogs opened the season with 10 losses and have gone 5-7 since that time. Sequenta Blackman leads the team with 14.1 points per game. Casey Collins is scoring 9.1 per game. GWU's last outing was a 77-61 loss to Belmont on February 14. Before that, the Bulldogs had consecutive wins over Jacksonville and Lipscomb. This is the third meeting between the two teams. The series is tied at 1-1. Gardner-Webb defeated FAU, 86-79, on January 19 in Boiling Springs, NC. FAU won the only other meeting on February 15, 2003, at FAU Gymnasium. FAU enters the game in ninth-place in the A-Sun. The Lady Owls are one-half game behind Campbell. The top eight teams will qualify for the A-Sun Tournament March 11-13 in Dothan, AL. Campbell faces UCF on Thursday and visits FAU on Saturday. Tickets are available at the door. Prices are $6 for adults and $4 for seniors and children.
