Lady Owls Look for Perfect Road Trip

Feb. 8, 2004

NASHVILLE, TN - Florida Atlantic University will try to complete a perfect road trip Monday night when it takes on Lipscomb University in an Atlantic Sun Conference battle in Nashville, TN. The game begins at 8:00pm EST at Allen Arena and can be heard on WLVJ 1040-AM and www.fausports.com.

FAU (6-13, 5-7 A-Sun) is coming off a thrilling 82-79 overtime victory over Belmont on Saturday. In that game, Trineca McCleod led all scorers with 22 points to go along with 11 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season. Jackie Brown added 16 while Shontavia Williams had 13. DeKesh Frazier and Corinth Evans both scored a career-high 11 points. FAU still remains in ninth-place in the A-Sun with eight games remaining. The Lady Owls are one game behind eighth-place Campbell as the top eight teams qualify for next month's A-Sun Tournament.

Lipscomb enters the game with an 11-9 record and an 8-4 mark in the A-Sun. The Lady Bisons, who are in second place in the A-Sun, have won five of their past six games. Their last outing was a 62-51 victory over visiting UCF on Saturday. In that game, Katie Beth Pate had 28 points and 20 rebounds. Pate averages 11.4 points and 9.4 rebounds per game. Courtney Boynton leads the team with 14.5ppg.

This is the second meeting ever between the two teams. Lipscomb defeated FAU, 70-63, January 31 at FAU Gymnasium. The Lady Bisons used a 14-4 run at the end of the game to come from behind and pick up the victory.

Florida Atlantic, which had a week off before Saturday's game at Belmont, will have another week before its next game at Troy State on February 16.
