Women's Basketball Heads to Nashville

Jan. 31, 2003

NASHVILLE, TN -- Florida Atlantic University looks maintain at least a share of first place in the Atlantic Sun Conference South Division when it visits Belmont University Saturday in Nashville, TN. The game begins at 3:00pm at the Aquinas Center and will be broadcast live on WLVJ 1040-AM.

FAU is 7-10 overall and 5-1 in the A-Sun. The Lady Owls are currently tied with Central Florida for first place in the A-Sun South and are 7-3 since opening the season 0-7. FAU is coming off a come-from-behind 60-46 victory at Samford on Thursday night. Tamica Pierce, who leads FAU in scoring and rebounding, posted 21 points and 10 rebounds in the victory. She also connected for a career-high four three-pointers.

Belmont comes in 11-6 and 2-4 in the A-Sun. The Bruins have lost three straight games by a combined 13 points. Their latest loss was a 71-68 setback at home against Central Florida on Thursday. Belmont's leading scorer, Erica Davenport, is out with a knee injury. The next best producer is Chasity Campbell, who averages 11.9 points per game.

This will only be the third meeting between the two teams. The home team won both contests a year ago.
