FAU Women's Basketball Faces New Orleans and Louisiana-Lafayette This Week

Jan. 29, 2008

Coach Dugan: Weekend Preview

The Florida Atlantic University women's basketball team will look to snap an eight-game losing streak with a pair of games this week. The Owls will host New Orleans on Thursday night at 7 p.m., before traveling to Louisiana-Lafayette for a game slated to tip-off Saturday at 4 p.m.

Last week, FAU got a career-high 20 point effort from Carla Stubbs against Denver. However, that was not enough to stop the Pioneers, as four players scored double-figures in a 69-53 loss. On Sunday, FAU committed 20 turnovers and shot only 37.5 percent (18-48) from the field as the Owls were defeated by Arkansas-Little Rock 66-44.

On Thursday, FAU will face a New Orleans team coming into the week at 10-10, 4-5 in the Sun Belt. They are led by senior guard Le'Della English. She scored a season-high 27 points as the Privateers came back from a 13 point deficit to defeat Florida International 70-60 on Saturday. The first 50 fans will receive free popcorn and 200 Dunkin' Donuts coupons will be given away as well. Tickets are available for Thursday night's game and can be obtained by calling 1-866-FAU-OWLS.

Louisiana-Lafayette comes into the week at 5-14, 1-7 in the Sun Belt and have lost five games in a row. Senior forward Courtney Ratliff leads the Ragin' Cajuns in scoring at 12.1 points per game. Center Sonora Edwards is second in the conference in rebounds at 8.2 per contest. Saturday's game can be heard online on fausports.com beginning at 3:45 p.m.
