Women's Basketball to Face Mercer

BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic University women's basketball will try to extend its winning streak to four when it hosts Mercer University, January 18, at FAU Gymnasium. The game tips at 3:00pm and can be heard live on www.fausports.com.

FAU enters the game in first place in the Atlantic Sun Conference South Division. The Lady Owls have won three straight games and five of their last seven. They are coming off a 73-68 victory Thursday night against Troy State. Crystal Boyland led the Lady Owls with 19 points and nine rebounds.

Boyland is second on the team with 11.2 points per game while fellow senior Tamica Pierce leads FAU with 13.1 points per contest. FAU leads Central Florida by a half-game for the A-Sun South lead.

Mercer brings in a 2-10 overall record and is 1-0 in the A-Sun South. The Bears have won two of their past three games after opening the season 0-9. Lee Lee Cannon leads the team with 13.1 points per game.

Mercer leads the all-time series 14-10. FAU won two of the three meetings a year ago, including a 76-72 victory in the semifinals of the A-Sun Tournament. FAU is 5-5 against Mercer at home and has lost the last two such meetings.

Tickets are available at the door. Prices are $6 for adults and $4 for those 18 years old and under.
