Women's Basketball to Open A-Sun Play
Jan. 8, 2003
Florida Atlantic University begins its Atlantic Sun Conference schedule Thursday night at Stetson University. The game tips off at 7:00pm at the Edmunds Center in DeLand, FL. FAU enters the game with a 2-9 record. The Lady Owls are coming off a 77-72 loss against St. John's in the consolation game of the Georgia Tech Atlanta Marriott NW Holiday Invitational on December 31. Tamica Pierce leads FAU with 13.5 points per game. Crystal Boyland has averaged 16.8 points and 6.8 rebounds over the past four games. Stetson is 1-9 and comes in with a four-game losing streak. The Hatters most recently played on January 6 and lost 57-56 at Charleston Southern. Stetson is led by Kristy Brown, who is averaging 13.0 points per game. Stetson leads the all-time series 18-8. However, FAU owns a 4-2 since Chancellor Dugan became head coach. FAU has played Stetson more times than any other team in its 19-year history. FAU, which is a preseason favorite to win the A-Sun South Division, continues the road trip on Saturday with a game at Jacksonville University.
The game will not be broadcast on the radio.
