Women's Basketball to Face Stetson

Jan. 4, 2004

BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University will conclude its latest road trip Monday night when it takes on Stetson University in DeLand, FL. Tip-off is set for 7:00pm at the Edmunds Center, and the game can be heard live on WLVJ 1040-AM and www.fausports.com.

FAU (2-7, 1-1 Atlantic Sun Conference) is coming off its most complete performance of the year after dismantling Jacksonville, 80-43, Saturday in Jacksonville, FL. Jackie Brown led the Lady Owls with 14 points as FAU outscored JU 50-17 in the second half. The win snapped a six-game losing streak for FAU and was its most lopsided since a 37-point win over JU in 2001. Trineca McCleod leads the Lady Owls and is sixth in the A-Sun with 14.0 points per game.

Stetson enters the game with a 3-6 record overall and a 1-1 mark in the A-Sun. The Hatters last played on Saturday when they lost to visiting Central Florida, 79-55. Seven of the team's nine games have been at home where the Hatters own a 2-5 record. Junior forward Kristy Brown leads the team with 15.4 points and leads the A-Sun with 11.6 rebounds.

FAU has played Stetson more times than any other team in its 20-year history. Monday's game will be the 29th between the two. Stetson holds an 18-10 advantage, but during the Chancellor Dugan era, FAU has won six of eight meetings as well as the last three. The Lady Owls swept last year's season series but are 4-11 all-time at the Edmunds Center. FAU won 86-70 last year at Stetson.

The game will be the last of six straight the Lady Owls have played away from home. Their game January 8 against Mercer will be the first at home since December 4.
