FAU Falls to Georgetown 69-40

Dec. 9, 2006

Final Stats

Washington D.C. - Demina Anderson and Brittney Crenshaw had their Owl season debut spoiled by a combined 36 points from Georgetown Juniors Kieraah Marlow and Kristin Heidloff, as the Hoyas defeated FAU 69-40 on Saturday afternoon.

"We let too many outside influences affect our game," said Head Coach Chancellor Dugan. "We need to stay focused and stay in the moment. This is all a learning experience."

Georgetown started the game on a 12-2 run, fueled by six of Kieraah Marlow's 10 first-half points. The Owls would fight their way back into the contest, trailing only 16-12 with just over eight minutes to play in the first. The Hoyas re-established themselves as the opening stanza wound down, cashing in on quick points off the transition and headed to the locker room on an 18-6 run that gave them a commanding 36-18 lead.

Mistoria Brown led FAU with five first-half points, while Andrea Taylor added four. Georgetown shot 55.2 percent from the field in the first frame.

A 17-2 scoring run to start the second-half solidified the victory for the Hoyas. They built their advantage to as much 39 points with 11:22 left before the Owls trimmed the final score to a 29-point defeat. Cristal Randolph scored 10 of her team-high 13 in the second frame. Mistoria Brown chipped in seven points, while Brittney Crenshaw had two points and six rebounds in her season debut.

Kristin Heidloff paced Georgetown with 19 points on 8-of-9 shooting from the field. Kieraah Marlow added 17 points and seven rebounds for the Hoyas.

Georgetown finished the contest shooting 53.7 percent compared to the Owls 29.4 percent mark from the field. The Hoyas won the rebounding battle 41 to 31.

FAU will be back at home this Thursday, as they take on conference foe Troy. The game is set to tip at 7 p.m.
