Final Stats

JACKSONVILLE, AL - Florida Atlantic University had five players in double-figures, but it wasn't enough as the Lady Owls lost 93-91 in overtime to Jacksonville State University Thursday night in Jacksonville, AL. The loss drops FAU to 14-13 on the year and 12-7 in Atlantic Sun Conference play. It also ends FAU's hopes of securing at least a share of first place in the A-Sun. Tamica Pierce led FAU with 23 points and 11 rebounds.

JSU's Shanika Freeman led all scorers with 24 points and had the game winner with three seconds left in overtime.

FAU outrebounded JSU 53-37 and forced 35 turnovers against 28. However, the Gamecocks outshot the Lady Owls 50 percent to 36 percent. JSU (8-18, 7-12 A-Sun) also went 9-of-9 from the line in the decisive overtime period.

Other scorers for FAU included Angie Rodgers with 15 points. Kristy Halvorsen had 12 points while LaKeita Lee and Crystal Boyland each had 12.

The Lady Owls are now tied for second place in the A-Sun with one game remaining. They face Samford University Saturday afternoon in Birmingham, AL at 3:00pm to close out the regular season.
