Women's Basketball Upset by Jacksonville

BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University was upset by Jacksonville University, 75-69, Saturday in Boca Raton. The loss drops FAU to 14-12 on the year and 12-6 in the Atlantic Sun Conference. Angie Rodgers scored a career-high 15 points to lead FAU, which entered the day in a first-place tie with Belmont atop the A-Sun.

The difference in the game was shooting and rebounding as the Dolphins outshot the Lady Owls 59 percent to 36 percent and held a 39-25 advantage on the boards.

FAU led 33-29 at the half but was outscored 46-36 in the second half despite Jacksonville (4-21, 3-15 A-Sun) using just six players the entire game. JU led 65-53 with 5:54 remaining before the Lady Owls went on a 14-4 run to cut the lead to 69-67 with 2:02 left. However, the Dolphins would not allow another field goal by the Lady Owls and held on for the six-point victory.

Tamica Pierce scored 12 point for the Lady Owls while LaKeita Lee added 10. Kat Sungy led JU with 22 points and 16 rebounds. Yolisha Jackson had 20.

Florida Atlantic next plays at Jacksonville State February 28 before closing its regular season March 2 at Samford.
