FAU Women Fall To ULM 66-44

Feb. 6, 2008

Final Stats

The Florida Atlantic University women's basketball team struggled with turnovers on Wednesday night against the University of Louisiana at Monroe. The Owls committed a season-tying 37 turnovers and got cold shooting the ball in the second half as FAU loses to ULM 66-44.

Despite the turnovers, FAU was able to stay close through the first half. The Owls shot 45 percent from the field in the first half, led by Carla Stubbs who had nine points in the opening stanza. Two free-throws gave FAU their biggest lead at 16-13. From there, ULM went on a 7-0 run to take the lead and kept that lead into the half at 29-25.

The Warhawks pulled away in the second half, they went on a 6-0 run to start the second half, and never looked back, as they were led LaJeanna Howard, who led all scorers with 17 points.

"We just threw the ball all over the place," said head coach Chancellor Dugan. "We just have got to get better at handling the ball."

Carla Stubbs led FAU (5-16, 1-11 Sun Belt), with 16 points on six of ten shooting. Breana Cox was the only other Owl in double-digits with ten points. FAU cooled down in the second half, shooting nine of 28 from the floor after a hot first half, Owls shot 37 percent from the field in the game.

ULM (14-8, 7-4 SBC), had three players in double-figures, led by Howard's 17. Lottie Moore added 14 points and Shannon Lloyd had her third straight double-figure output with 10. ULM outrebounded FAU 39-36, 20 of their boards came on the offensive end. ULM improves to 8-0 in games following a loss.

FAU returns to action on Saturday against Arkansas State, as part of "Pack the House" day at FAU, events include the "Think Pink" breast cancer awareness initiative and National Girls and Women in sports day. For tickets, call 1-866-FAU-OWLS.
