Final Stats

BOCA RATON, FL - UCF used a 15-3 run in the final 5:34 to defeat Florida Atlantic University, 61-47, Wednesday night in Boca Raton. The loss ended FAU's four-game winning streak as UCF stayed atop the Atlantic Sun Conference. Sally N'Diaye led FAU with 11 points, and Missy Glaser scored 10. UCF's Ali Roberts led all scorers with 17 points while Celeste Hudson added 15.

UCF (11-7, 9-2 A-Sun) scored the game's first 10 points, holding FAU (8-10, 6-5 A-Sun) scoreless for the first five minutes. The Lady Owls closed the gap to five on a Glaser layup at the 9:19 mark. UCF went back on top by as many as 10 before going to the half with a 25-18 lead.

In the second half, the Golden Knight upped the margin to 11 on a Lashaunda Slade jumper with 17:40 remaining. FAU then strung together an 8-0 run, its longest of the night, to make it 31-28 at the 16:07 mark. The stretch included three-pointers by Amanda Bulin and Cristal Randolph as well as a pair of free throws by Shontavia Williams.

After UCF increased its lead to five points, FAU pecked away and tied the game on a layup by Shuteamia Brayboy with 11:35 to play. Hudson then made a three-pointer less than a minute later to put UCF in front for good at 39-36.

The Lady Owls would creep to within 44-43 on a Glaser three with 6:41 remaining. That's when UCF clamped down defensively and didn't allow a field goal for the next six minutes. In the process, the Golden Knights led by as many as 15 with less than a minute remaining.

UCF held FAU to just 29 percent shooting while making 44 percent of their shots. The Golden Knights were 5-for-15 from beyond the arc, and FAU was 4-for-15. UCF outrebounded FAU 43-34. Shelly Weber led UCF with 10 boards.

Williams, who entered the game leading FAU with 14.9ppg, was held to six. The win for UCF extended its winning streak over FAU to six.

Florida Atlantic next hosts Jacksonville Saturday at noon. The game will be televised live on Sunshine Network.
