David Caputo is in his first season as an assistant coach at Florida Atlantic University after joining the staff in April. He brings five years of coaching experience and a winning track record to Boca Raton.

Caputo came to FAU from Santa Fe Community College in Gainesville, FL, where he served as the head assistant women's basketball coach during the 2007 season. With his help on offensive and defensive philosophies, the squad reached its first state tournament since 1996. The team's ranking of seventh in the state was its highest in ten years and their 22-9 record was a 14-win improvement from the previous season.

Hailing from New Jersey, Caputo was the head assistant men's basketball coach at Bloomfield College from 2002-2006. During his Bloomfield stint, the team won two regular season championships and three- consecutive Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournaments.

Bloomfield recorded 20-win seasons along with NCAA Division II tournament berths in 2005 and 2006, falling just short of the 2005 sweet sixteen to the eventual tournament runner-up. Caputo has sent a player overseas to play professional basketball, as well as worked with a three-time All-American.

At the AAU level, Caputo was the head coach of the Garden State Sharpshooters 15 and under team. He also has coached at several prestigious summer basketball camps that include the University of Florida women's elite basketball camp and the Rick Majerus Utah University Basketball Camp.

The Bernandsville, NJ native received his diploma from Montclair State University.
