BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University has opened the 2006 season under the direction of first year head coach David Komie with a four-match road swing that included two matches against the nation's top teams. Following a tough week of play the squad was rewarded with the first Atlantic Sun Player of the Week honors going to Mauricio Paiz.

Paiz grabbed victories against no. 11 Florida State and no. 39 Miami. He also played both no. 2 and no. 3 doubles and fell 8-2 to the 63rd ranked doubles duo at FSU.

Paiz is a junior from Guatemala City, Guatemala and is majoring in International Business.
