Results

- Florida Atlantic University's men's tennis team participated in the 2005 Southern Intercollegiate Championships, last weekend. The tournament featured many of the best teams throughout the southeast, including teams from the SEC, OVC, Sun Belt, Atlantic Sun, and the ACC.

"This tournament had some of the top players in the country and I felt like we were in every match," said FAU head coach David Komie. "David Demers was up a set and a break against the #72 player in the country and Mauricio and Gianfranco were up big in their matches but let them slip away. I think that the more we compete and the harder we train the more likely it will be that we win these kinds of matches. In any event, it was great to get Florida Atlantic's name back out there with the `big boys'."

In Division 1 Singles
David Demers lost to #72 in the country Alex Schweizer (Auburn) 3-6, 6-3, 6-2. In the consolation Demers lost to Mark Gellard (South Alabama) 6-4, 2-1 ret.

Division 2 Singles
Kevin Obletz lost to B. Zarzo (Tenn. Tech) 6-3, 6-3 then beat Sawmynaden (Citadel) 7-5, 6-2 and beat Ryan Farlow (Mississippi State) 6-3, 6-2.

J.P. Bounassur lost to no. 2 seed Zach Rath (GA Tech) 6-3, 6-4 and then lost to Sam Huffman (South Alabama) 6-1, 3-6, 1-0 (5).

Division 3 Singles
Mauricio Paiz defeated Nick Medica (Citadel) 6-0, 6-4 then lost to Daniel Escobedo (East Tennessee St.) 6-7, 7-6, 6-0.

Gianfranco Dossena def. Ryan Ingram (Mercer) 6-1, 6-0 then lost to Sebastian Orbeguseo (South Carolina-Upstate) 7-6, 2-6, 7-5.

Akin Akman lost to Clarence Boyd (GA State) 6-2, 6-4 the lost to Matt Stanley (E. Tenn. St.) 6-3, 6-2.
