Owls Downed By Barry

April 5, 2005

BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University was defeated by Barry University, 4-0, Tuesday afternoon in men's tennis action in Boca Raton, FL. Barry entered the match ranked no. 3 in Division II and stayed unbeaten at 12-0. The Owls fell to 6-11 overall with one match remaining in the regular season.

Barry won the doubles point with wins at no. 1 and no. 2. FAU's team of David Demers and Kevin Obletz at no. 3 picked up a win an 8-2 win over Manuel Lauter and Andres Varela.

In singles, Barry's Thomas Hipp claimed a straight-sets victory at no. 1 while Martin Jensen and Alex Praderas did the same at no. 5 and no. 6, respectively. Matches at no. 2, 3, and 4 did not finish after Barry had clinched the victory.

Florida Atlantic is next in action Sunday when it hosts Bethune-Cookman at 11:00am. The Owls will then take part in the A-Sun Tournament April 14-17 in DeLand, FL.
