BOCA RATON, FL -- Florida Atlantic University cruised past Webber International University, 6-1, in non-conference men's tennis action Saturday in Boca Raton, FL. WIU won the doubles point before FAU swept singles on its way to improving to 5-6 overall. WIU dropped to 7-7. The win was FAU's third in its last four matches.

Webber International won two of the three doubles matches. FAU's lone victory came from David Demers and Kevin Obletz at no. 3 when they defeated Matias Aldrete and Leigh Griffiths, 8-2.

In singles play, all but one of the six matches were decided in straight sets. Antonello Magris won for the third time in his last four outings at no. 1, with a 6-3, 4-6, 10-5 victory over Enrique Catter. F.J. Schofield won his sixth straight match in a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Christophe Bonadona. Demers defeated Yuiti Lopes, 6-0, 6-0, while J.P. Bounassar upped his season record to 7-3 with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Aldrete at no. 4.

At no. 5, FAU received a point from Obletz in a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Cody Wright. The Owls' Mauricio Paiz won for the fifth time in his last seven matches with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Griffiths at no. 6.

Florida Atlantic is next in action Sunday morning when it hosts Indiana State at 11:00am.
