The Florida Atlantic University men's and women's swim teams captured eight event wins to open the 2009-10 season at Florida State University on Friday afternoon.

Eszter Buca won the 1,000-yard freestyle by more than 14 seconds while also taking top honors in the 400-yard individual medley to highlight the women's team effort. The host Seminoles was victorious in the meet. Jonna Nyback finished second in the 200-yard freestyle event. The Owls took the top two spots in the 200-yard freestyle relay with the team of Nyback, Erin Connolly, Emily Allen and Kelly Dowling placing first in 1:42.30.

On the men's side, FAU had the top three finishers in the 200-yard breaststroke that with Alex Rodriguez picking up the victory by six seconds over Rafael Pena and Henry Samuel. The Owls also went 1-2-3 in the 500-yard freestyle event. Ricky Duran won the event by nine seconds with a time of 4:42.46. Florida State picked up the dual meet victory.

FAU will travel to Atlanta, Ga. on Saturday to participate in the Georgia Tech Inviational against the University of Alabama, Western Kentucky University and the host Yellow Jackets.
