FAU Soccer Heads To ASC Tournament
Nov. 14, 2007
BOCA RATON, FL - Riding the momentum of a five-match unbeaten streak, the Florida Atlantic University men's soccer team will head to Farmville, VA to take part in the Atlantic Soccer Conference Tournament. The Owls won the regular-season conference title, going 4-0-1 in league play. FAU is also 4-0-1 in its last five matches, having last lost to then no.7 ranked Virginia 4-2 in Charlottesville on October 16. FAU has outscored its opponents 10-3 since that time. The ASC tournament will be hosted by Longwood, who finished second in the conference during the regular season. The Owls are ineligible from hosting the conference tournament due to league bylaws, but can play for the title.
The Owls will be seeking to improve upon their performance at last year's tournament, where they advanced to the finals before a late rally came up short to host Adelphi in a 3-2 loss. FAU will face no. 4 seed NJIT at noon on Friday. The Owls defeated the Highlanders 2-0 in their meeting earlier this year. That match will be followed by Longwood facing off against no. 3 seed Adelphi at 3 p.m. The two winners will advance to the championship game at 2 p.m. Sunday.
