BOCA RATON, FL- Florida Atlantic University senior Shire Standnes has been selected to the All Mid-American Conference (MAC) Second Team, announced by the MAC office Thursday. During the 2008 season Standnes played in all 18 of the Owls' matches, recording six goals, two game winning goals (Duke, Bowling Green) and 12 points. Standnes was the only member of the FAU soccer team selected for post season honors voted by MAC coaches.

Originally from Oslo, Norway, Standnes spent the 2008 season moving up FAU's all-time career charts. Standnes will finish his career in the top 10 for shots (4th, 122 shots), goals (tied-6th, 18 goals), game winning goals (2nd, 9 GW goals), and points (10th, 40 points).

The FAU men's soccer team will play today in the Mid-American Conference Tournament in Akron, Ohio. The sixth seed Owls face one-loss elimination as they take on third seed Buffalo.
