FAU Men's Soccer Begins MAC Tournament Thursday

MAC TOURNAMENT INFORMATION & VISTOR'S GUIDE BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic University men's soccer team will travel to the University of Akron in Akron, Ohio to play in the Mid-American Conference (MAC)Tournament. The first round of the tournament will be on Thursday, November 13 and a conference champion will be crowned after the title match on Sunday, November 16. The tournament is a one-loss elimination format and the conference champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. Akron (15-1-3, 6-0-0 MAC) holds the top seed and is ranked fourth nationally. The MAC has seven total teams which allows Akron a bye for the first round. FAU's opponent, the University of Buffalo (11-3-4, 3-1-2), enters the tournament as the third seed and is listed in the "also receiving votes" portion of the national rankings. The Bulls beat FAU 3-0 earlier in the season in New York. The 2008 season was FAU's first in the MAC. The Owls were Atlantic Soccer Conference champions in 2007.
