Owls Hope to Continue Momentum

Oct. 11, 2005

BOCA RATON - With hopes that the weather will cooperate, the Florida Atlantic University men's soccer team is scheduled for a pair of conference games this week.

After having two games cancelled last week in what was scheduled to be their busiest week of the season, the Owls hope they can get back on a more normal routine. Thanks to the rainouts, FAU has played just three games in the past 21 days.

Florida Atlantic will hope to carry over the momentum from a strong victory Sunday against Jacksonville into their first game this week, a 7 p.m. kickoff against Stetson on Thursday.

Stetson has a 3-1 conference record thanks to a strong offensive attack led by Tanner Wolfe, who has 11 goals on the season, five of them game-winners.

It will be up to the Owl defense, specifically the defending A-Sun Defensive Player of the Week Anders Granstad, to keep Stetson in check.

The defensive play from backline defenders Ryan Kinsley and Oerjan Stroeksnes will also be vital to the Owl success.

After the Mercer match, FAU (4-6, 1-0) will head back to the road for a game in Macon, GA against Mercer. The Bears are 2-1 in the conference, 5-6 overall. They are coming off a 1-1 week, picking up a win against Gardner-Webb and dropping a contest against Belmont.

FAU will face Mercer on Sunday at 1 p.m.
