FAU Men's Soccer to Host MLS Exhibition Game

BOCA RATON, FL. - The Florida Atlantic University men's soccer team will play host to a Major League Soccer exhibition match between the Colorado Rapids and Dallas Burn at 4 p.m on Sunday, March 2 at FAU Field. This match will mark the first time that FAU has hosted a MLS exhibition event since the leagues inception in 1996. The FAU men's soccer team will also scrimmage two MLS teams, D.C. United and the Colorado Rapids, to start its spring season.

The Rapids-Burn match will feature two of the MLS's most exciting young players, Mark Chung of Colorado and Jason Kreis of Dallas. Both players were in the top-10 of the league in goals scored and total points. Chung, a U.S. National Player, finished the season with 11 goals and 10 assists for 32 total points, while Kreis scored 13 goals and tallied 4 assists for 30 points. You can purchase tickets for this event at The Soccer Store, in Boca Raton (561) 477-1040, or at the gate for only $5. Game time is set at 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 2.
 

 

The FAU men's team will face three-time MLS Cup Champions D.C. United at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 20 at FAU Field. The United will be led by US National Team Members Earnie Stewart and Ben Olsen and the 2002 Soccer America College-Player-of-the-Year Alecko Eskandarian (es-can-DARE-ee-un). First Team All-Conference forward Kristoffer Aarskog and Second Team/All-Freshman goalkeeper Anders Granstad will direct the Owls in their MLS exhibitions.

FAU will follow up this exciting match with another scrimmage against MLS opponent the Colorado Rapids at 3:30 pm, Sunday, February 23 at FAU Field. The Owls will play Nova Southeastern University at 7 p.m. on March 15 and Barry University at 4 p.m. on March 22 at FAU Field to finish up the spring season.
