FAU Sneaks Past NJIT

Nov. 16, 2007

Box Score

FARMVILLE, VA - An early Igor Santos goal was enough for the Florida Atlantic University men's soccer team to advance to the finals of the Atlantic Soccer Tournament.

The score came in the 22nd minute when Jesse Kehoe's shot rebounded out to Santos who put the ball past NJIT keeper Josh Osit to the lower left corner. The Owls backed up the score with intense defensive pressure that allowed the Highlanders managed just three shots on the day. Phillip Lamarre stopped all three shots in the shutout. Lamarre also shut out Hartwick in last year's ASC semifinal.

FAU once again advances to the ASC Tournament final, where it will face host Longwood, who defeated Adelphi 3-2 in Friday's second semifinal. Sunday's match will come little more than a month after the two teams met in the regular season. The Owls prevailed 2-1 behind another Santos goal as well as the Shire Standes' gamewinner. The match will start at 2 p.m.
