BOCA RATON, FL - In their final home match of the season the Florida Atlantic University men's soccer team was able to defeat in-state rival Jacksonville University 3-1.

David Acosta, Franz Chevannes, Alexsandr Lukovic and Diego Monsalve were honored before their final match at FAU Field. The Owls dominated play from the beginning, but were unable to translate that dominance into points until late in the first half when Jesse Kehoe was able to put a Shire Standnes cross into the back of the net and give the Owls a 1-0 lead. FAU continued but couldn't add to their lead before the end of the first half.

The second half was more of the same as the Owls dominated the action after the break. They were finally able to put more distance between the Dolphins and themselves in the 59th minute when a Javier Carrillo cross was headed in by a JU defender for the own goal and a 2-0 FAU lead. JU closed to within a goal when Jordan Stanton scored off a rebound in the 89th minute to cut the lead in half.

FAU was able to ice the victory a little more than a minute later when Oscar Vilchez scored off of another rebound, this time of an FAU shot and provide the final margin of victory. The Owls improve to 9-7-2 on the year and will move on to the Atlantic Soccer Conference Tournament next weekend.
