Men's soccer defeats Philadelphia University 5-1 to end three game losing streak

Boca Raton, FL - Florida Atlantic men's soccer team scores five straight goals in a come from behind win against Philadelphia University to end their three game losing streak.

Junior Emiliano Aranes lead the way for FAU with two goals and an assist as the Owls improved to 5-9-0 on the season. With the loss Philadelphia University dropped to 8-8-0.

Philadelphia opened the scoring at the 4:30 mark of the first half as Nolan Dzeilak score with an assist going to John Westfield. Then Owls then took over scoring two goals in the first half to lead 2-1 at halftime, then tallied three more goals in the second half to defeat Philadelphia 5-1.

Freshmen Guillermo Kramer scored the first FAU goal at the 12:00 mark, his first of the season. Freshmen Alex Arango and Gustavo Alencar were credited with assists. Aranes came off the bench in the first half to score and put the Owls up 2-1 at halftime. The goal was scored at the 33:49 mark with assists going to sophomore Borge Sandsund and freshmen Josh Garbee.
 

 

In the second half FAU started to control the game and scored three goals in a five minute stretch. Aranes scored his second of the game and his team leading seventh at the 58:22 mark. Three minute later, junior Frans Roenning scored his fifth of the season on a head ball off a cross from sophomore Henrik Salveson.

Salveson then finished the scoring, taking a pass from Roenning and beating Philadelphia goalkeeper Joe Pollock with his third goal of the season at 63:59.

FAU will be on the road for their next two games, against Charleston Southern, October 27, and A-Sun opponent Campbell, October 31, before returning home to finish the regular season, November 4, against Binghamton University.
