Men's Soccer drops second straight A-Sun game to Jacksonville, 3-1.

Boca Raton, FL - ,Florida Atlantic men's soccer team drops second straight Atlantic Sun Conference game to Jacksonville University 3-1.

After a scoreless first-half in which both teams had good scoring chances, Jacksonville broke the game open by scoring two goals in a three minute stretch early in the second half.

Sophomore forward, Hamdy Bonin came off the bench in the second half to spark the Dolphins. Bonin opened the scoring at 53:29, when he took a punt from junior goalkeeper Mike Miller, beat an FAU defender and pushed a ball past goalkeeper Jonas Kolstad to give JU a 1-0 lead. Moments after that (55:47) freshman Richard Blackburn took a pass from senior Justin Lloyd and beat Kolstad for a 2-0 lead.

FAU cut the lead in half with a goal from sophomore Henrik Salveson. Salveson scored on a rebound off a blocked shot. The goal was Salveson's second of the season.

Bonin finished the scoring at 58:41, when he took a pass from sophomore Sean Steed, beat a defender and was able to slide a ball past Kolstad for his second of the game and a 3-1 lead for JU.

FAU pushed hard the last twenty minutes to get back in the game but could not beat Miller. FAU outshot JU 20 - 10 for the match. FAU goalkeeper Jonas Kolstad made five saves for the game.

With the loss FAU falls to 4-8 overall and 3-3 in the A-Sun. Jacksonville improves to 6-2-1 overall and 4-1-1 in the conference.

FAU will host two non-conference opponents over the weekend. The Owls will host Howard University, Friday, October 19 at 7:30pm. Then at noon on Sunday, October 21, the Owls will play Philadelphia University.
