Florida Atlantic University nearly battled back from a
three-goal deficit before
falling to Georgia State University, 3-2, Saturday afternoon in Atlanta, GA.
The loss drops FAU
to 5-5-0 overall and 0-2-0 in Trans America Athletic Conference play.
Georgia State led 2-0 midway through the first half after a Scott Mora goal
at 11:51 and a
score by Terrance Johnson at 25:35. The Panthers maintained the two-goal
advantage into the
half.
At 55:26, GSU increased its advantage to 3-0 after Matt Campion scored from
25 yards
out.
FAU finally got on the board with 19:59 left in the match when Federico
Santana scored
on a free kick. The Owls pulled to within one goal with 1:58 left when
Patrik Slattman scored
from five yards out on an assist by Marcus Henricsson.
FAU, however, would run out of time before it could get any closer. The
Panthers outshot
the Owls 13-12.
