Owls Play Deacons Tough, but Fall 1-0

Sept. 27, 2005

Box Score

WINSTON-SALEM, NC - Despite a strong defensive effort against one of the country's top teams, the Florida Atlantic University men's soccer team fell 1-0 to #17 Wake Forest on Tuesday.

Neither team was able to muster a shot on goal during the first half of play. The game's loan goal came on the Demon Deacon's second shot on goal, just five minutes into the second half.

Both teams loosened up slightly in the second half, but it was Wake Forest that was able to take advantage of their chances. They registered five shots on goal to Florida Atlantic's three. FAU goalkeeper Anders Granstad made four stops in the loss.

Two of the three FAU shots on goal belonged to Leonardo De Mata, the other to Samuel-Eli Dzegede.

The loss drops the Owls' record to 3-6. FAU is now off until October 4 at 7 p.m., when they face South Florida in their return to Boca Raton. It will be their final non-conference game of the 2005 season.
