FAU Men's Soccer loses 2-1 in double overtime to South Florida

Tampa, FL - ,Tampa, FL Florida Atlantic Men's Soccer team loses a tough 2-1 double overtime decision to University of South Florida.

The two teams battled through a scoreless first half, with South Florida holding a 12 -3 shot advantage.

FAU scored early in the second half (47:50) on Sophomore Henrik Salveson's first goal of the season for a 1-0 lead. Emiliano Aranes earned his second assist of the season on the goal. South Florida then tied the score at 81:51 with a penalty shot by Jeff Thwaites.

The score remained tied through regulation and into overtime. South Florida held a 24-10 during regulation. The teams played scoreless through the first ten-minute overtime and headed into double overtime.

In the second overtime South Florida scored at the 113:34 mark to end the game. The goal was scored by Jason Cudjoe with assist from Kevin Crown.

FAU Senior goalkeeper Jonas Kolstad was again solid in goal, making 10 saves for the game.

With the loss FAU drops to 2-3 on the season. South Florida moves to 7-0.

FAU travels to the Florida International Tournament for matches against James Madison University on Friday, September 28, at 5pm. FAU then plays host Florida International on Sunday, September 30, at 3pm.
