MIAMI, FL -- After a rough start to their road trip, the Florida Atlantic University men's soccer team closed out a successful weekend in Miami as they defeated Alabama A & M 4-0 on Sunday to win the FIU Diadora Classic.

After being shut out in consecutive games in Colorado, the Owls outscored opponents Xavier and Alabama A & M by a combined total of 10-0.

Anders Granstad made three saves for his 11th career shutout, third of 2005.

Javier Carillo continued his hot streak, scoring two more goals, giving him five in the last two games. Ran Poliker, who had two assists against Xavier, also scored for the Owls.

Shire Standnes converted the game's first goal in the 46th minute. Carillo scored his fourth goal of the season just two minutes later. Poliker made it 3-0 FAU in the 60th minute, and Carillo capped the game with a tally off his own rebound in the 67th minute.

After the game, Granstad was named the tournament's Outstanding Defensive Player, and Carillo was named the Outstanding Offensive Player.
