Men's Soccer Downs Trevecca 6-0 in Home Opener

Sept. 17, 2004

Box Score

BOCA RATON, FL - Borce Ancevski and Rustin Kluge each scored twice as the Florida Atlantic University men's soccer team defeated Trevecca Nazarene 6-0 on Friday night in FAU's 2004 home opener. FAU improves to 2-1.

"It's always pleasant to see us put the game away," said Owls coach Koz Donev. "There were moments we played well and moments that we showed some weaknesses. When we face a more difficult opponent we will need to be more aware and not make as many mistakes."

The Owls opened the scoring in the eighth minute when Josh Garbee's drive from the top of the box easily beat Trojans goalkeeper Seth Miller high to his left.

Despite dominating shots and possession, it would take almost 36 minutes for FAU to double their lead. With less than 30 seconds left in the half, Rustin Kluge took a nice through ball from Walter Yoder and slotted the ball home into the far bottom corner.

Ancevski capitalized on poor Trojans (0-5) defending twice in less than three minutes early in the second half to double the FAU lead before a Kristoffer Aarskog goal and a Kloge free kick completed the scoring.

Anders Granstad and Helgi Helgasson combined for the shutout as the Owls out-shot the Trojans 27-3.

The Owls return to action on Wednesday, September 22nd when they head to Florida International University to take on the Golden Panthers in a game postponed from September 3rd due to Hurricane Frances.
