Sept. 7, 2005

Box Score

BOCA RATON, FL -- After battling to a 2-2 tie for ninety minutes, the Florida Atlantic University men's soccer team fell to Florida International University, 3-2 in the first overtime.

It only took 1:27 into the extra session to end a very competitive match. Panther forward Judah Hernandez saw a crack in the Owls defense and snuck his shot passed Anders Granstad in the left corner of the goal.

Florida Atlantic took the early lead when Luka Lau found the back of net after a Florida International turnover deep in its own territory.

In the twenty-fourth minute, Leo DeMata gave the Owls (1-2) a 2-0 lead when he followed his own shot and deposited the rebound in the lower right corner of the goal.

Florida International cut the lead in half when Carron Williams headed in his fist goal of the night in the 31st minute. Minutes into the second half, Williams would tie the game with his second goal of the evening.

The Panthers (2-1) out shot the Owls 7-5 in the second half and scored the deciding goal on the lone shot during the extra frame.

They will travel to Colorado this weekend to face Denver and Air Force. The game against Denver is scheduled for Friday, at 6 p.m.
