Kelly McHugh and Praewnapa Phol-Uayporn Named Sun Belt Conference Golfer of the Month
April 1, 2009 BOCA RATON, FL- Florida Atlantic University sophomore Kelly McHugh has been named the men's Sun Belt Conference Golfer of the Month for March, as announced by the conference office. McHugh finished as a top 10 individual in all six competitions for the month of March. The Lakeland, Florida native was two under par in a dual meet with Niagara University and four under against Rutgers University, receiving medalist honors in both dual meets. McHugh also tied for second in a dual meet with the University of Dayton. McHugh's efforts in the three dual meets helped FAU to victory as a team. After a slew of dual meets, McHugh assisted FAU to its first tournament win in several years, hitting five under par at the Treasure Coast Classic and earning runner-up honors to fellow teammate Justin Thompson. The engineering major also tied for 7th at the Butler North/South tournament. McHugh opened both the Treasure Coast Classic and Butler North/South with seasonal best rounds of 67. At the Inaugural FAU Spring Break Championship and against a nationally ranked field, McHugh tied for 10th place. Over the last nine holes McHugh hit three birdies. McHugh's two birdies on the last two holes held off several teams making a late charge and solidified FAU's 9th place finish. FAU's Praewnapa Phol-Uayporn was named female Sun Belt Conference Golfer of the Month for March. A complete release can be found HERE. Both Phol-Uayporn and McHugh will compete in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament held in Houston, Texas on April 20-22.
