FAU Men's Golf Finishes Sixth at Nova Southeastern Invite

PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL- The Florida Atlantic men's golf team finished sixth out of 15 teams at the Nova Southeastern University Shark Invitational in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. The two day tournament was held at the PGA National Course from Sunday, October 12 through Tuesday, October 14 and was shortened to two rounds due to severe thunderstorms. FAU (300, 300 - 600) was just three strokes out of fourth and was represented by a young squad composed of two freshman, two sophomores and one junior. Individually two Owls broke the top 10, as freshman Michael Baskovich (Clearwater, FL/Calvary Christian) tied for third and sophomore Kelly McHugh (Lakeland, FL/Lakeland Senior H.S.) tied for 10 place. Baskovich led the tournament in total pars (28) and was second in par 5 scoring average (4.63). "I am really proud of the team. We are improving and that's what it's all about" FAU head coach Angelo Sands said. In 2007 FAU participated in the same invitational averaging 315 strokes per round and finished 13 out of 13 teams. The FAU men's golf team will play their next tournament at the Indigo Lakes golf club in Daytona Beach, FL on Friday October 24 through Sunday, October 26. The tournament is hosted by Bethune-Cookman University.
