Men's Golf Begins Play at A-Sun Championship

DEER ISLAND, FL - Florida Atlantic University began play Monday at the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship in Deer Island, FL. The Owls shot 301 and are tied for ninth with Belmont through round one.

Scott Kennedy led the FAU effort with a one-under-par 71 at the 6,670-yard Deer Island Golf Club and is tied for eighth-place. Matt Anderson and Michael Bailey each fired a two-over 74.

Florida Atlantic is only three strokes behind eighth-place Troy State while just six strokes separate the Owls from sixth-place Mercer. The 54-hole event continues Tuesday with final round action scheduled for Wednesday.
