Men's Golf Ninth after Second Round at A-Sun Championship

April 19, 2005

Nashville - The Florida Atlantic men's golf team had a tough second day at the Atlantic Sun Championship Tuesday, slipping into ninth place with its 299. The team now has a 584 score after two rounds (285/299).

A day after three FAU golfers equaled or broke par, only freshman Marco Morales came within a stroke of doing so in the second round. Morales shot a 72 to lead the team.

Sophomore Tommy Suri finished just a stroke behind Morales with his second-round 73 and now leads the team with a two-day total of 144. That puts him in a 21st place tie among all individuals. Morales is tied for 36th.

Freshman Michael Berger followed up his great opening round with a 75, good enough to put him into a 27th place tie. Junior Kevin Clark and sophomore Ben Gardner have matching 152's and are tied for 49th. The Owls resume competition Wednesday in the third and final round of the championship.
