Opening-Round 285 Puts Men's Golf Nine Strokes Back at A-Sun Championship
April 18, 2005 Nashville - The Florida Atlantic men's golf team had a solid day at the Atlantic Sun Championship Monday, though a quick glance at the standings might not reveal it. Despite placing eighth after the first round of competition, three FAU golfers equaled or broke par, and the team finished just nine strokes behind leader Campbell. Freshman Michael Berger had the best day of any FAU golfer, tying for 16th place overall with a one-under 70. Sophomores Ben Gardner and Tommy Suri finished a stroke behind him and tied for 20th place with matching 71's. Junior Kevin Clark rebounded from a damaging 40 on the front nine to shoot 33 over the back nine and get back into competition. He sits in a 34th place tie with his 73. Freshman Marco Morales is in 44th with his first-round 75. The Owls resume competition Tuesday in the second round of the championship. Team Scores FAU Individual Results
