Franklin, TN - The men's golf team of Florida Atlantic University posted three consecutive rounds under 300 for the first time this spring to finish fourth overall at the Belmont Invitational hosted by Belmont University at the Legends Club. Matt Anderson won his first tournament of the spring and second on the year, while Joel Gibbons and Scott Kennedy both brought their 'A' games by finishing with their lowest three-round totals of the spring on the 6846-yard, par 71 course.

Anderson finished the tournament 7-under par with rounds of 67-68-71 to become the first Owl with two first place finishes on the year. Anderson has finished in the top-10 in four of the six tournaments while posting a 72 scoring average in those matches. Gibbons and Kennedy had arguably their best showings of the spring as both finished in the top 20. Gibbons shot rounds of 69-69-72 to close the tournament 3-under par and finish fifth overall, his best finish since September. Kennedy played his most consistent golf, with rounds of 73-73-72 to finish 20th. Nicolai Syvertsen closed the tournament with a three round total of 229 and Mike Cleary opened his FAU career with a total of 233.

FAU (862) had an excellent tournament by posting its three lowest rounds of the semester but it was not enough as Austin Peay State University (852), Jacksonville State University (856) and Mercer University (858) shot rounds just under the Owls. FAU finished ahead of four of the six participating Atlantic Sun schools while four of the top five spots were occupied by A-Sun members.

FAU will participate in the A-Sun Championships beginning Wednesday, April 16 in Daytona Beach, FL.
