Men's Golf Strong After First Round

April 1, 2002

JACKSONVILLE, AL - Matt Anderson shot a three-under par 69 to tie for first place through one round of the Amoco Ultimate-Young Oil Intercollegiate in Jacksonville, AL. As a team, FAU is tied for sixth among the 17-team field. The Owls stand at 296, two strokes behind South Alabama and Morehead State and three strokes behind third-place Columbus State.

Anderson fired a 35 on the front and 34 on the back of the par-72, 6,860-yard Silver Lakes Golf Course. Other scores for FAU included a 74 by Anibal Ochoa and a 75 by Scott Kennedy. Nicolai Syvertsen fired a 78 while Michael Bailey turned in an 82.

The second round, which was scheduled to finish on Monday as well, was suspended due to darkness. It will be completed early Tuesday with the final round to follow.
