FAU Men's Golf Wins Dual with Niagara University
March 5, 2009 BOCA RATON, FL- The Florida Atlantic University men's golf team closed out four straight days of competition with a win over Niagara University. The dual meet was held at Ocean Breeze Country Club (6,885 Yardage/ PAR 72) in Boca Raton. Kelly McHugh won his second dual meet of the week by totaling 68 strokes, four below par. Ben Silverman finished runner-up at par 72. Justin Thompson (77) and Sterling Searcy Jr. (77) tied for fifth while Jared Miller (82) completed the Owl's scoring five. FAU had seven individual competitors with Michael Baskovich (3rd, 74), Will Cottle (4th, 75) and David Ziglar (T 5, 77) as the top finishers. FAU has played well during spring break week, winning all three tournaments they participated in. On Monday FAU defeated the University of Dayton in a dual meet by a score of 311 to 314. Competing in the Treasure Coast Men's Classic the Owls hit season-low rounds of 283 and 278 and won by 16 strokes. Completing the week was today's 294-340 victory over Niagara University. The Owls will have the rest of the week off from competition before heading to the Butler North/South Invitational in Jacksonville on Monday, March 9. The tournament will be held at the Jacksonville Beach Golf Club and will conclude on Tuesday, March 10.
